    Wood Cheneau Rigo

    Wood Cheneau Rigo

The Wood-Cheneau Rigo (WCR) spinal orthosis is a thermoplastic brace uniquely constructed to bring the trunk and spine into the optimal postural alignment. The contact points and expansion areas are located, shaped and oriented to apply contact to selected regions of the trunk, bringing the patient into the best possible 3-dimensional correction while maximizing comfort. The WCR brace concept employs regional derotation, using a unique pressure-system to guide frontal plane alignment and sagittal plane profile balance. Through this design, the WCR prevents lordotization of the spine while treating the patient's scoliosis. The general correction principle is that of detorsion and sagittal plane normalization, which would correct the coronal and transverse planes, resulting in some elongation of the spine, without any significant distraction force. The WCR brace involves a team of scoliosis professionals from around the world working on the patient's classification of curve. The patient curve type is individually classified from the Classification of Rigo using the x-rays and clinical photos of each patient. Based on this classification, an individual brace design from the Classification of Rigo brace designs is selected for each patient. Dr. Manuel Rigo is personally consulted on WCR brace cases for verification of the patient's curve type and scoliosis brace design when necessary. This is a multi-disciplinary approach using feedback from the patients prescribing MD and Schroth or Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) physical therapist in combination with the orthotist's skills. Subsequently, the measurements, x-rays, and clinical photos are used to design and fabricate a custom-made Wood Cheneau Rigo brace.

    Boston Brace

    Boston Brace

All Boston Braces may be lined, partially lined, or unlined. Standard brace is fabricated with straps in the back of the brace or posterior opening. The custom-made Boston Brace is made from a scan/cast and measurements and is custom fit for each individual patient. Clinically proven to control curve progression of Lumbar, Thoracic, or Thoraco/Lumbar curve types. Scoliosis is a three-dimensional abnormality, and the Boston Brace 3D orthosis works to correct the spine in all three planes-coronal, sagittal and transverse. The custom-made Boston Brace 3D features an improved brace design with a unique shift/push combination of forces that move the spine into a corrected position. Additional space is provided for rotational correction and breathing mechanics.

    Charleston Bending Brace

    Charleston Bending Brace

The Charleston Bending Brace is designed to be worn only at night while sleeping. Night-time bracing is advantageous because it allows the patient to continue with all normal day-time activities such as sports, dance, play, beach, water activities, etc. The Charleston Bending Brace® introduces bending forces at certain specific locations on the spine. The vertebral bone in the spinal column can then be manipulated into a specific directional growth pattern as the skeleton progresses toward maturity. After years of such "bracing" the tree eventually develops into straight line on its own. Similarly, the Charleston bending brace is designed to create a mirror image of the spinal curve(s) of the scoliotic patient. The brace may, work to "unbend" a patient's left curve by creating a right curve. Spinal flexibility contributes to the success of a bracing treatment.

Studies indicate that children and adolescents grow in response to the levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH) in their bodies. The same studies indicate that HGH levels peak at night. We can conclude, therefore, that most growth occurs during sleep. The Bending Brace works on the principle that if the spine can be bent during the time of growth the direction of the spinal curve can be successfully changed as well during the peak time of growth while sleeping.

    Providence Nighttime Brace

    Providence Nighttime Brace

The Providence® brace is used at night due to its hyper corrective design effectively treats the scoliotic curve when gravity is eliminated in the lying position. The Providence® Orthosis is the first hyper corrective brace that is worn at nighttime to treat adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). This revolutionary orthosis has gained in popularity because of its effectiveness in treating scoliosis and its enhanced ease of compliance among adolescent patients. It has been successful in treating all curve types: lumbar, thoracic, double major, and thoracolumbar. The Providence Nocturnal Scoliosis® System combines the precise grid coordinates of the patented measuring board and utilization of a CAD/CAM system to effectively establish consistent spinal modification strategies. The Providence Nocturnal Scoliosis® System is designed to aggressively correct scoliotic curves while the patient sleeps. The Providence® is also effective for obese, juvenile and neuromuscular patients.
